Getting into Parkour is not hard to do, but in this guide I will outline how you can learn Parkour in your first seven days. Each day you will do something different that will help with Parkour and starting it.
Day 1
Well, if this is your first day ever with Parkour, you will want to learn how to roll firsthttp://parkour-120.blogspot.com/p/tips.html
. To do this, you can watch some tutorials. ParkourX has a roll tutorial that can be found on our site. Once you have watched some tutorials, practice this roll on a mat.
Day 2
Today you will be continuing the roll, but we will also be adding the side roll in. You will also want to watch some tutorials on this, and after that, you will also want to practice that on the mat.
Day 3
Keep practicing the back rolls today, but we also need to learn the back roll. This is used if your momentum is going backwards, obviously. Just search a tutorial or two on this, and practice it on the mat as well. If you can, try some front and back rolls outside.
Day 4
We will keep practicing the rolls because these are of vital importance in Parkour. Will will also start the two handed side vault today. Just watch a video or two, and find a nice bar to practice this on.
Day 5
We always keep building on what we have started, so today we will also add in the "lazy vault" or one-handed side vault.
Day 6
Today, we keep working on everything else we have learned if possible, and will start the monkey vault. This is were you put your hand on the bar right as or before you jump, and two-foot jump over the bar. It's quite easy, but is good to know as it can easily be built on.
Day 7
Now we will add in the kong, a variation of the monkey vault. This is were you do the two-foot jump before you place your hands down. This is one of the single most important vaults, and you need to know it.

How To Parkour For Beginners - The REAL Way To Jump


  This may seem obvious, telling you how to jump. We've been doing it since we could walk. But seriously, most people don't know how to jump or land.
They bang their joints. They don't use their bodies. They stumble after landing because they haven't developed their stabilizer muscles.
So if you're interested in how to parkour (for beginners, especially) start with the simple move that even a 3 year old can do: the jump.
3 things parkour beginners should keep in mind
Develop your legs - Squats are a great exercise if you have a gym at your disposal, but box jumps and precision jumps work just as well if you're more inclined to exercise outdoors without added weights.
You'll have to decide the height and distance for yourself, but a good routine for combined explosiveness and endurance is:
Max height and distance (you should have to throw your arms hard to reach)
5 box jumps
5 precision jumps
Immediately into medium height and distance
15 box jumps 
15 precision jumps 
15 box squats
Rest 1 min, repeat 3x
Sounds easy, but it will fry your legs. One last tip I give when asked how to parkour for beginners:
Remember to keep you knees behind your toes as you sink into your pre-jump squat. That will require you to stick your butt FAR back. Good. That's a handy way to ensure you are hitting your ass muscles.
Put your back into it - okay really your whole body. The precision jump especially can be MASSIVELY improved by throwing your weight around.
So swing your arms back and throw them forward as you uncoil your legs, imagining propelling your shoulders towards your target. This can be tricky coordination for beginners, but like all things, it comes in time.
Listen - How to parkour for beginners: 101 - Move silently. Not only does silence make you more ninja-like, it is the best indicator that your are engaging the crucial stabilizer muscles in your legs and protecting your joints. So work on landing without a bang.
Will it hurt your height and distance at first? Probably, but it will develop the muscles that will, in time, have you jumping through the roof.
Also, remember when practicing those box and precision jumps: When you can no longer land silently, you're done with the exercise!

Parkour Fears: How To Overcome Your Fear Of Doing Parkour



  ou have trained your body, day after day, doing pull-ups, lunges, squats all to develop the explosive power that you need for Parkour. However, when you stand there, face to face with your obstacle, you stop dead. You hands start getting sweaty, you start encouraging yourself: you can do this! You can do it! Yet your body remains frozen. You have failed.
   What you witnessed is the gap - the gap between your survival instinct and your desires. Your survival instinct sees no reason to perform such a dangerous trick when you can simply walk around but your desires crave the adventure, the rush you get when you complete the trick. I myself have met this gap in myself many times. To overcome it, I have developed the following tips and strategies.
Witness the Trick: Through the power of the internet, we have YouTube and YouTube contains hundreds of clips on Parkour. Use YouTube to find the trick that you wish you can do and watch it over and over again to convince yourself it can be done and how it's done.
Imagination: 
After seeing the trick done in third person, now imagine yourself doing the trick yourself. Do everything in slow motion. Imagine yourself running up to the obstacle, feel every muscle contraction, feel where your body is, feel the amount of power you need to overcome the obstacle.
Join A Group: 
In most cities, there is a Parkour group. It is a group of Traceurs who meet and practice Parkour around the city. They can give you encouragement and tips on your current problem because all of them have been there before. They also know many different Parkour and a change of scenery might just be what you need.
Start Small: 
Pretty explanatory but I'm surprised by the amount of people who try to perform a trick without trying a smaller version first. For example, if you wish to perform a double Kong, try to perform a leaping Kong first.
To overcome your fear is all up to you. The source of everybody's fear is different, you must find what works for you.



3 Tips for Creating a Quality Parkour Videos

  With the tons of Parkour videos online, it is no surprise that more and more people are getting involved in the sport/art of Parkour every day. When you start learning how to Parkour, it is natural to want to start making videos, typically of stuff that you are not ready to do yet. Many beginners feel that in order to make entertaining videos, they need to be doing crazy tricks. This is not true.
Warning - Before you you begin making any Parkour Videos, I suggest that you take the time to perfect the Roll Landing. This is going to not only help protect you while you practice, but it looks great in videos.
Making a quality Parkour video 
  Tip #1 - When it comes to tricks, variety if the spice of life. Even as a beginner, there is a large number of tricks that you can learn. Using basic vaults, such as the Kong and speed vault, you can start making videos. Other simple moves that will help spice up your Parkour videos are the reverse vault, 1 handed reverse, dash vault, and shoulder vault. None of these moves are very difficult to learn, and by mixing them up, you can start making entertaining videos in no time.
   Tips#2 - When it comes to angles, again, variety is the key. If you are shooting all of your moves from 1 spot, of from 1 angle, the video is going to get boring very quickly. By shooting from the front, back, sides, above and below, you can take 1 simple move and make it look 10 times better.
Mixing a variety of moves with a variety of angles will take what may have been very simple, and very short Parkour videos, and turn them into longer, more entertaining videos.
  Tips #3 - Use a quality camera. While it would be nice if the $20 digital camcorders that you can buy at the grocery store worked, they are going to take very pour quality videos. You do not need to spend a lot of money to get something that will really make great quality videos. If you are going to put in the time to learn the Parkour moves, and then make the video, you at least want it to come out looking good.
Extra Tip - When you start learning how to put multiple moves together, your Parkour Videos will improve dramatically. There are some very simply combinations that you can put together, and they will do great things for your videos.
